Some nice story, read it, love it~ written By: NOT ME

You stared in disbelief at the doctor. “I’m what?” The pompous little man grinned back at you. “Pregnant. Congratulations, Miss ___.” You felt your world falling to pieces. Oh no, this was not happening. Not to you. You couldn’t be pregnant. Oh God. “Is everything all right Miss ___?” the doctor asked, still smiling cheerfully. You glared at him, wishing you’d have morning sickness now so you could throw up all over his crisp clean jacket. “Yeah, everything’s peachy,” you answer through gritted teeth. Without waiting for him to respond, you get up and leave the office, throwing a twenty at the surprised receptionist and telling her to send you the rest of the bill. You find yourself running as you hit the sidewalks. You have no idea where you’re going, but you run, run until your chest burns and you can’t run anymore. Gasping for air, you sit on the curb, holding your head in your hands. No, you could not be pregnant. Not now. Not with him. But you had to be, and it had to be him. An abortion? No, you couldn’t do that. Not even if the father was your ex-boyfriend. Ex-first boyfriend to be exact. Colby Tanning. Who you’d dated for two years, only to split up less than amicably when you found out he was cheating on you and he accused you of cheating on him, though you never had (asshole, you knew he had only done that to cover his own sorry ass). And who you’d fought again with at a party two weeks ago. Drunkenly. And somehow the argument had ended with… Well, that was history. Now you guys were still furious at each other and you were pregnant. La dee frickin’ da. You sat there trying to figure things out for what felt like hours, but you kept drawing a huge blank. That was it, you had to see Colby. Whatever he thought and whatever happened, he still had a right to know. And so you found yourself standing on the once familiar doorstep, staring at the door that you had always found hideous, waiting for the man that you had once loved to death. Colby was understandably surprised to see you there. “What are you doing here?” “Nice to see you too, Colby,” you answered sarcastically, trying to see over his shoulder to see who was inside. You knew there were voices in there. Colby saw this and quickly stepped outside, shutting the door behind him. “Who’s in there?” you ask suspiciously. “None of your business,” he answered harshly. “Is there a reason you’re here or are you just trying to stalk me?” “Of course there’s a reason, jack ass,” you shoot back. Even looking at him brings back painful memories. “Well…?” He’s such a cheating asshole! you think, glaring at him. “Well, I’m pregnant,” you snap. He didn’t look quite shocked enough, so you add, “And it’s yours.” He doesn’t say anything for a minute. Then… “Nuh-uh. No way. No way it’s mine.” Now you were just plain disgusted, although the hormones probably had a lot to do with it. “Yeah, well as much as I’d like to believe that I won’t be waddling around with some cheating jerk’s kid, I can’t. And I appreciate your responsible attitude, by the way. It really reminds me of why I dated you in the first place. Well, seeing how well that went, I’ll be on my way. Glad we had this conversation.” You turn and leave, half because you’re sickened by the ‘it’s not my fault’ look he’s giving you, and partly because you feel tears coming on. Stupid hormones. But at least you told him and it’s over with. A miserable week goes by as you try to come to terms with your pregnancy, and no word from Colby. But then again, you can’t say you expected to hear from him. He wouldn’t want anything to do with his own kid, not him. He’s probably got another baby on the way with his current ho anyway. So when you pick up your phone, you definitely aren’t expecting his voice on the other end. “Hey…” “Colby?” “Yeah. Were you just crying?” “No.” You had been, but you weren’t about to tell him that. “Ok. Look… I… Are you getting an abortion?” “Why?” you ask, half surprised, half expecting him to recommend an abortion clinic for you. “Well, noth… Ok, look, I really don’t want you to get an abortion.” You sit in stunned silence for a moment. “Oh? And you tell me this now? What if I already had one?” “Did you?” You hear panic in his voice. “No. But I could have. And I could be having one tomorrow.” He misinterprets your sarcasm, thinking you actually are having an abortion tomorrow. “Don’t go! Please don’t go.” This conversation is just getting weirder. You decide to play along. “Why not? I don’t want to be a single mother anymore than I want you to be the father.” “You won’t be! I’ll raise it too! I’ll do anything. Just please don’t kill our baby!” “You’ll what? What? What are you talking about? Our baby? Who said…” “___, just listen, okay? I… gosh… it’s… I shouldn’t be doing this over the phone… Alright, it’s not every day you get to bring a kid into the world. And I love kids, always wanted one. So I don’t want you to…” “Woah, slow down there, buddy,” You feel tears coming on as his words bring back memories of the time his older sister brought her baby over for Christmas. Colby had never looked happier playing with the little tot. Trying to hold back your waterworks, you push on. “Last time I checked, it was none of your business what I plan to do with my life. You’re my son-of-a-bitch cheating ex-boyfriend, remember?” Bad choice of words. Suddenly, you’re sobbing, which is kind of ridiculous, since you don’t even miss him as a boyfriend. Well, maybe you do. A little. But only as he was before you found out that he was sleeping around. “Stop crying,” he says, his voice sounding partly pissed and partly pained. “I’ve told you a million times I’ve never cheated on you. You’re the one who slept around remember?” You’ve had this conversation a million times. “Real heroic, Colby,” you say through your tears. “Way to own up to your faults.” “I’m not going to own up to something I didn’t do!” Colby yells into the receiver. “You own up!” “Why would I?” you shout back. “I did nothing wrong!” “Not according to the guy you cheated on me with,” he shoots back. This is new. He’s never named his fake sources before. “Oh yeah?” you said. “So who’s that? Who do I have to call and notify that you’re soiling their name too?” He pauses. “Like you don’t already know. It’s Rowan.” Your jaw drops in shock. That is not even possible. “Rowan?” you whisper. “But Rory told me she slept with you…” Rory is Rowan’s twin sister and they are both friends of yours. And Colby’s. As he processes this news, there’s a long silence. “Oh shit,” he says, and you know he’s thinking the same thing you are. Typically there would be nothing wrong with the fact that the twins had told the two of you that the other was cheating. They were your friends so they may have ended up cheating with the two of you, and it would have just been coincidental, that’s all. But it’s been months since you’ve broken up with Colby. And just lately Rowan has been hanging around your house a lot. He even took you to a movie a week ago and held your hand through most of it. And you’re willing to bet Rory’s been hanging around Colby a lot too. “Holy shit,” Colby mutters, and you can feel a fresh wave of tears coming on. “You never cheated on me, did you?” you ask quietly. “I would never ever cheat on you,” he responds, and this gets the waterworks flowing again. “I should have believed you,” you moan. “No, I should have believed you,” he answers. “I can’t believe how much of an idiot I am! That’s it, I’m going over there and kicking their…” “No! Colby, you’re coming here first.” “Ok, I’ll be right over…” He pauses as if unsure of if he should say whatever’s on his mind. “I love you,” he whispers finally. “I love you too,” you say through the tears. When he arrives at your place, it’s like the two of you were never separated. You are quick to make up for lost time, and you keep catching him staring at your stomach in wonder. And when Rowan knocks on your door, Colby opens it, punches him out, and slams it shut again. A few weeks later, the two of you move in together again. Nine months of anxious bliss pass, Colby always there for you when you get cravings or aches or the need for massages. And when the big day comes, he drives you to the hospital and stays by your side through the whole process, giving you words of encouragement until Cadyn James Tanning is born. “You were amazing,” Colby whispers into your ear as you hold your son for the first time. “I love you more than anything in the whole entire world.” “Sap,” you yawn, smiling down at the adorable bundle in your arms. “Marry me,” Colby says simply, and you glance at him in surprise. But you’re too tired to be confused or overly excited. “Okay,” you respond, and the smile Colby gives you is the widest you’ve ever seen. “Hear that, buddy?” he says, placing a hand on little Cadyn’s head. “You’re going to be a best man!” And as you hand the best man-to-be to his Dad and close your eyes, you can’t help but think that this is by far the best day of your life. Although you have a feeling the day of your wedding will be even better.
